About Garoi Community in Bangladesh

Aim and objectives of Bangladesh Bible Society is to provide scripture in every language have in Bangladesh. Therefore, Bangladesh Bible Society is continuing its Translation work. Among the Translation work “Garo” (Abeng Language) started in 1998 and the New Testament (NT) of this language published in 2004. Most of the Garo people study in Bengali medium, therefore, Bangladesh Bible Society using Bengali scripture to translate Bible in Abeng. In Garo community there are 13 (thirteen) different dialect but the common one is Abeng, which is most familiar among the Garo community. 99% of Garo community are Christian. Bangladesh Bible Society involved two main translators, along with them for reviewers from different denomination are working to help the translation work. Now Old Testament (OT) is going to be finished and we are waiting to have consultancy checking and so, depending on UBS to help us in this regards. Bangladesh Bible Society is translating this scripture in easy and common language so that most of the people can read and understand including children.
